Healthy tips for prevntion of Anemia

Anemia is increasing in today’s world due to people’s craving for junk food and also due to heavy unhealthy race of life. People have no time to spend time for them and they even don’t care to eat a healthy food. The problem is not that people have no money but that they have no time. Earlier women were having time to spend some time when their children go to school. But now women are also started going to offices and there are successful professionals also. They work hard utterly disregarding their physical and mental health. Their sole aim is to reach new heights in life and earn money to acquire social status.

Women generally find time to give nutritious food to their husbands and children, without taking care of them. The result is Anemia. The hemoglobin starts diminishing and she becomes pale day by day. The Rh factor in the blood should never be allowed to go below 12 which is the minimum. But in India most women have RH below 12.While working, they start fading. Oxygen in blood decreases and they start to develop a kind of chest tightedness while breathing. They even doubt it as Asthma. The chances of having Anxiety increases.Only in a healthy body there can be a healthy mind. That is one of the reasons why Depression is higher among women.

Food rich in iron is the only short -cut to get rid of anemia. The iron content in non vegetarian foods(liver, cod liver oil etc.) are easily absorbed by the human body and if you are a vegetarian ,eat plenty of green leafy vegetables, dates, currants, black grapes, beet –roots,carrots,beans,etc.But the fastest way to get rid of anemia is to eat liver and meat.

You can have iron supplements too. The iron supplements alone may temporarily shoot up your Hemoglobin, But will revive back to the earlier stage sooner, so it is advisable to eradicate anemia by taking food rich in iron.
Eating a balanced diet that includes food from the iron rich food list can help prevent iron deficiency.

Iron Deficiency Anemia is a condition where a person has inadequate amounts of iron to meet body demands. It is a decrease in the amount of red cells in the blood caused by having too little iron.

Recommended daily intake of iron

Children from birth to age 6 months - 10 mg daily

Children from ages 6 months to 4 years - 15 mg daily

Females ages 11 to 50 - 18 mg

Females over age 50 - 10 mg

Pregnant women - 30 to 60 mg

Males ages 10 to 18 - 18 mg

Males over age 19 - 10 mg

Mahatma Gandhi said: “You are what your thoughts are. Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well. As long as you derive inner help and comfort from anything, keep it. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.”
Thus it is our thoughts and perceptions about ourselves decides what we are. There is no point in blaming a third person for all the misery they have done. If our mind determines that I shall be happy and content in all circumstances, nothing can defeat. Some people are worry because they have no money. While some other may be having plenty of money and even then they are not happy, there is no meaning in money. Everything we have must provide happiness to us. Most of the people have diseases solely because of depressed thoughts.
For eg: Asthma, Allaergy, Anxiety, Anaemea etc.will be alleviated when thoughts are clear and there is peace of mind. It is natural that panic and miserable situations come across in life. The breathing exercises (relax your mind saying everything is fine)will help you a lot.You alone are responsible for all the diseases and worries that you have.So just determine in mind that I shall try to be happy and content in all situations. The brain cannot distinguish actual events from imagined events. So for example if we were to imagine something else(optimistic thoughts) in our minds would the brain then release chemicals and hormones to burn energy?

Regular exercises can also burn our adrenalin release. So exercise regularly.

“We control our hormones every day without realising it. When you are in a stressful situation you release a signal to your brain which in turn releases adrenalin into the bloodstream to help you deal with the change (fight or flight response). You sometimes cope with this by taking deep breaths and your adrenalin levels return to normal. This is a very simplistic view on it and it is more complicated than this.

You may be ignoring the water saying that ‘ It is just water’ .I am talking about plain drinking water. It is said that all diseases arises from the deficiency of water in our body. Various diseases like asthma,anxiety,joint pains etc.can be cured by drinking plain water sufficiently. Human body is made up of water at large. You may be drinking juices, coffee, tea, chocolate shakes and all that messy soft drinks. It actually increases dehydration. When you are sleeping at night for 6 to 8 hours you are largely dehydrated & your body is craving for water. But without knowing this, the first drink that you may be having in the morning may be coffee or tea which further dehydrates your body.Pure water can never be replaced by any other drinks.

Meaning of my dream

Yesterday I saw a dream and I was searching for the meaning of it.I saw in my dream too many dangerous snakes are biting me and  crawling all over me.The meaning of my dream as suggested by  one website was that --"to see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream, signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. Alternatively, the snake may be seen as phallic and thus symbolize temptation, dangerous and forbidden sexuality. If you are afraid of the snake, then it signifies your fears of sex, intimacy or commitment. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent healing, transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes'.

Prevention of breast cancer

Breast cancer threats in India is increasing.The major reason for this is the ignorance of the people .Only some know that a lump or persisting tenderedness in breast may be a symptom of breast cancer. When some coloured (green) or uncolored water comes from the nipple consult a doctor and diagnose the disesase.Most often the symptoms are coupled with itching in the breast (not associated with menstruation).There are certain home made preventive remedies available for everyone:-

1. have an intake of Broccoli atleast twice in a week.Broccoli is proved to have excellent capacity to prevent cancer,especially breast cancer.

2. Don’t wear your bra tight to your breast.Try to avoid the bra when you go to sleep.It is recommended that you need not wear bras at  home.

3. Exercise regularly for 20 minutes . Brisk Walking is very good to prevent cancer.

4. Massage your breast regularly gently by using coconut oil or any other oil..

5. Always be happy.heights & pits are part of life. .Try to be content in all situations.Accept all situations as it is.When your mind is happy,your body will be certainly happy..happiness will be reflected in the health of tissues,cells,bone marrow etc.

6. Avoid too much intake of coffee,tea,chocolates etc.

7. have plenty of green lesfy vegetables. But avoid too much protein intake like soy beans,red meat etc.

8. Drink plenty of water(minimum 8 glasses of water)

9. Avoid alcohol and smoking.

10. Last but not the least,believe in god.He can do all wonders.

Accept people as they are.Too much of intolerance will affect the body.

I have done a research work in breast cancer because I had a fibroadinoma at my breast which I thought was a cancer.Hope it may help you too.

Easiest Way to relax our body & mind

Our life has become so mechanical that there is no time to relax at all. My normal day time-table is given below:-1) get up at 6.30 a.m2) brush 3) Drink some plain water
4) make tea for husband 5) cook food
6) brush my son ,give him a bath, and get ready him

to school.7) iron my dress,take a bath,and get ready to office
8) reach at 9.00 in the office &work…..9) return at 5.45 p.m.to home.
10) go for a walk with my son 11) prepare food, have some food ,clean kitchen,watch

T.V(almost tired) 12) go to bed 13) again get up at 6.30…
Every day the same routine is followed and we get bored .There is no time to take care of our body or to relax it.We are running to complete the time table,that’s all.
One day my neighbour told me about Shri Shri Ravi Shankar and his ‘Art of Living’.

I attended the basic course and it was a wonder for me.Our breaths can relax our body ?
It taught me the relaxation technique.Deep breaths in and out by stomach by concentrating solely in our breath .Please note breathing should be by stomach and not by chest.Take deep breaths inside slowly and then breath out slowly and completely.Ujjain breath ,ie,deep breath by using neck portion. You see,it relaxes our body completely.
Find some time for yourself , your body&mind.In this race of life keep it relaxed in your own way.Some type of food may be acceptable for my body but may not be good and acceptable for you.Find out the same and give it what it needs.Make it relaxed and ask your mind to ‘cool down and relax’.It will do wonders.
I PROMISE….Do what is comfortable for your body&and mind .You need not take any extra effort for it.You can do it even while traveling in bus….

Three Idiots

After a very long time gap, I met a wonderful movie with fun and thought.I watched A bollywood movie 3 idiots (तीन बेवक़ूफ़) yesterday with my husaband. I went with my husband just to give  a company to my husband ,but when the film started it was like an electric shock and I was released from the delightful shock only when the movie ends.The movie has fun ,knowledgeable-thought provoking scenes,love,emotions etc. Above all it was very much relevant to the present life of races

Today we are celebrating Pongal .Though it's not of keralaites I just like to be part of any festival.Today I tried the recipe of venpongal which was tasty .

 Wash rice (2 cups)and green gram dal and dry it .Put some ghee( 2 spoons)in a pressure cooker and put rice and green gram dal and fry it till ghee completely covers it. Then add 1 tea spoon of jeera powder, 1 tea spoon of pepper powder, 1 tea spoon of chukku(dry ginger powder),1tea spoon of asafoetida powedr & I tea spoon of ginger paste and add water to cook. cook it well adding some salt and then garnish with  fried kissmiss and cashew nuts(plenty).kissmis and cashews must be fried in ghee.
The volume of ingriedients can be  as per taste but don't forget to add salt as per taste.

A true friendship

I want to put some open -ended questions which anyone can answer.

what is the definition of friendship ?Is that superior or equal to blood relations?how can we realise a true friend ?is it necessary to have always contact with that friend ?....

Now what I feel is that friendship is something which is established between persons of similar thoughts,attitudes,etc.and they give each other a silent promise to share their thoughts and emotions whenever needed. They are infact comfortable in the company of each other.They have lots to speak yet they may keep mum. they do not bore each other even while sharing silence..

Today I am giving you a recipe which is very nutritious and healthy.keerai (spinach)is full of vitamins and calcium (as I know),and eating keerai will even help to beat anxiety which is caused by too much secretion of adrenalin.

Keerai (spinach): 300g

Toor dal: ¾ cup

grated coconut: ½ cup

mustard: 1 tsp

urad dal: 2 tsp

red chilli: 1

jeera: ½ tsp

turmeric powder: 1tsp

salt: to taste

Oil: 1tbsp

Wash and drain the spinach and cook. allow it to Cooland then grind to a paste. Pressure cook the toor dal with turmeric powder. Heat 1 tsp of the oil, add 1 tsp urad dal and 1 red chilli broken into bits, fry till the dal is pink in color. Remove. Grind coconut with fried dal and chilli and the jeera to a smooth paste. Boil the spinach puree with salt. Add the cooked toor dal and boil for 5 minutes. Add the ground coconut paste and add enough water to get pouring consistency. Boil. Remove from the stove. Heat the remaining oil, add the mustard seeds when they splutter, add the remaining urad dal, when the dal turns pink, pour into the keerai molagootal.

traditional mulagoottal is ready to serve .just try this out.

Ennai Kathrikkai

For this recipe, purchase small tender kathrikai/eggplant .This recipe is very tasty and goes with rice .


small kathrikai/eggplant.............................10

chopped onion.................................1


grated coconut...............................3tbsp

coriander seeds............................2stp

chana dhal........................................2tsp

red chili........................................7

tamarind paste.............................1tsp


turmeric powder..........................1tsp

salt to taste

jaggery powder..............................2tsp

mustard seeds..............................2stp

Wash and slit the kathrikais into 4 on one side.Heat pan with 3tbsp oil ,add mustard seeds and when it splutters add the kathrikai, turmeric and salt. Cover the pan and time to time saute it.

Fry chili, coriander seeds, chana dhal, coconut,onion, peanuts till they become red. Grind them into a fine paste.

When the kathrikais are cooked, add tamarind paste, 1cup water and the ground paste.Cover the pan. When the gravy becomes thick and little oil seen on the top. Remove and change into serving bowl.

But beware ....it uses a lot of oil hence people having cholestrol problems should abstain from excessive use of this curry please.....
I simply love trying new recipes and this one is extremely tasty with rice...

simply try this out..............
(Ridgegourd chutney)
peechinga chutney (peerkaknkai thokayal)
Urad dhal………………………………………2tsp
Red chili………………………………………6
Asafoetida…………………………………1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds……………………………..1tsp
Salt to taste

Peel the skin of the peerkankai and cut into pieces. Heat pan and fry the red chili, urad dhal asafoetida. When the dhal becomes red remove and keep aside. Fry the peerkankai pieces little.Grind the dhal ,chilitamarind with little water. Add the fried peerkankai,salt and asafoetida and grind into coarse paste. Heat a pan with little oil add mustard seeds. When it splutters add to the thokayal.It is very tasty and goes with rice, chapati , idli and dosa .I love to eat with rice .just try this out.


don't waste your orange peels .Use it for the following:
1.make a face-mask for enhancing your beauty
2.Orange peel Pachadi(puli pacahdi)


1) Orange peel cut into small pieces - One cupful
2) Onion finely chopped - 3 Table spoons
3) Tamarind (a quantity equal in size to a small lemon)
4) Cooking Oil of your choice - 4 table spoons
5) Chilly powder and salt - to taste
6) Crushed jaggery - 1 table spoon
7) Methi (Fenugreek Seeds) - 1 teaspoon
8) Rai (Mustard Seeds) - 1 teaspoon
9) Hot water - 2 cups
10)Curry leaves - 8 to 10 leaves
11) Coriander powder (dhania powder) - 2 teaspoons


Soak the tamarind in two cups of hot water.

Heat the oil and add the fenugreek and mustard seeds.

When they crackle, add the onions and stir till light brown.

Add the orange peel and fry it lightly so that its rawness goes.

Add the coriander powder and stir.

Add chilly powder and curry leaves.

Stir and pour the Tamarind juice into the mixture.

Add crushed jaggery and salt.

Bring to a boil. You can boil this for upto 5 minutes.

Cool the chutney and put into a jar and refrigerate.

The chutney gets better after a few days.
